DUMATAU
Linyanti
DumaTau: Our ViewDuma Tau is the perfect little camp to include in an itinerary if it suits your style. It is a very unpretentious camp with everything you need on a safari and no over the top mod cons. Being located between the Savuti Channel and the Linyani River and flood plains it benefits by great game movement from both sides. The camp itself is very special and has typical lively character to it that most the classic Wilderness camps have. It is one of the most sought after of their camps. This is a wonderful camp with excellent game in lovely location so it gets a very good 4 paw rating. DumaTau: Fast Facts$1,099 per person per night (high season)
DumaTau: The DetailDuma Tau is in an ideal location in the northern regions of the Linyanti concession and benefits greatly by being on a flood plain of the Linyanti River. The camp is built under the shade of a huge mangosteen forest that looks over a large lagoon. The lagoon is fed from over flow of the Linyanti River and in high flood it is helped by a little spill from the Savuti Channel as the camp is located near the mouth. The main area of the camp is quite large, but not insultingly big. When entering the main area, you have a very comfortable lounge to your left with various areas to relax in and a walkway leading off even further towards the pool and sun deck. On the opposite side is a covered dining area a long table and just forward of that towards the lagoon is an outdoor dining area. Down on the ground and central to all these areas is a fire and boma section. The rooms are unique in that they are inoffensive and offer a lovely equilibrium of luxury and value. They are similar in style to the rooms at Little Vumbura and. On one side of the room is a massive double bed and opposite it is a desk and chair with a couple of armchairs. Divided by a swardrobe unit, the bathroom is on the other side. The game area is great and in camp you will never be out of sight from the two resident elephant bulls that hang around all day – Bob and George, very polite beasts. Like most of the Linyanti area, the game experience is very seasonal, best from April to October when the big buffalo and elephant herds return. There is great walking in this area, as well as canoe safaris, night driving and game driving.

Without any doubt one of Botswana’s most difficult lodges to actually get a room in, Savuti Camp is one of Africa’s finest small camps.

Little Vumbura is gorgeous little camp set on an island and well off the beaten track. This classic Wilderness Safaris camp is a favourite of ours and we have a big soft spot for using it over its big sister, Vumbura Plains. Little Vumbura only has 6 rooms whereas Vumbura Plains is made up of two, nine room camps.

Kwetsani is a magnificent camp, set high up in the trees on an island that looks over the Northern plains of the Jao flats. We really like this camp as it is extremely spacious, has stunning views and great balance between activities.
