Meno A Kwena: Our View

Meno a Kwena is a small and intimate lodge that has long been home of the famous David Dugmore! Consisting of 8 simple, yet effective tents the lodge is located on the traditionally dry Boteti River, to the south east of Maun. With great views down to the river bed below, this camp is the perfect place to start or end a trip as a short drive out of Maun and offering very good value for money.

Meno A Kwena deserves 4 paws due to its unrivalled location, brilliant camp design, excellent guiding and superb value for money.

Meno A Kwena: The Detail

Meno A Kwena Tented Camp & Safaris is so unique that there isn’t an experience like it in Botswana. It is very close to vintage Africa and the main reason for this is David Dugmore, who built and owns it. The location of the camp is unbeatable. It sits high on the banks of the Boteti River which is the source of water for the Makgadikgadi Pans, which has not flowed for a very long time!

Meno A Kwena Tented Camp & Safaris operates out its base camp on the banks of the Boteti Riverbed, (dry since 1995). During periods of above average rainfall, the Boteti River is one of the few drainage systems that carry the Okavango floodwaters out of this, the largest inland delta in the world, to flow into the deepest mantle of sand on the planet, the Kalahari Desert. The Boteti River lies right in the middle of these vast thirstlands where water is priceless and so attracting some of Africa's last remaining great wildlife populations.

The camp itself only consists of 8 safari tents, all with en suite bathrooms. The communal area is an open design and allows the energy of the bush to flow through during meal times and for summer months this is obviously brilliant in keeping cool.

An old favorite of ours…and such a great value lodge! Muchenje has the best views of any Chobe Lodge and we love the fact that it is a privately owned lodge that is located away from the crowds that Chobe National Park has become unfortunately so famous for!

San Camp is not sold as a game destination, although there is quite good game a full days game drive away. The guiding, walking and quad biking are superb.

Jacks Camp... if only there were more places in Africa that had this kind of atmosphere, dedication and professionalism! To say Jacks is amazing is underselling it, this place is absolutely outstanding but the product is unique and it has to be sold correctly.
