XAKANAXA CAMP

Moremi

Xakanaxa Camp: Our View

Xakanaxa Camp is a small and unique little camp located at the edge of the “Mopani Tongue” region of the Moremi NP. Set in a cluster of 3 lodges, including Okuti and Camp Moremi, Xakanaxa ia slightly set away from the other two and is, in our opinion, the best of the three. With a stunning communal lounge and dining area, the rooms, while on the cosy side, are comfortable. The area around is renowned for its game year round and so is well worth a visit.

Xakanaxa is a great value camp in a very game rich area of Moremi National Park. It is a great product, perfect for a few days. Good for all market but probably not the hard core safari type so it gets a good 3 paw rating.

Xakanaxa Camp: The Detail

As the custodians of one of Botswana’s very first safari camps the owners of Xakanaxa Camp (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) have gone to extraordinary lengths to preserve its original African bush camp character whilst providing guests with every comfort.
Its prime location on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Moremi National Park ensures that it is one of the only safari camps which can provide guests with an authentic year round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience.

The stylish main buildings extend over the Khwai River and are set on raised platforms to maximize the views over the surrounding lagoons and islands. Constructed of local timber, reed and thatch they comprise of an elegant lounge containing a small but comprehensive library, dining room, expansive sundeck, plunge pool and sala with day bed as well as a fire-deck set under giant Jackalberry trees.

The reception lounge boasts a curio shop and facilities for charging videos, cameras and batteries. The camp operates on generator power but at night all lighting is supplied by battery powered lamps, candles and paraffin lanterns, giving the camp an authentic African ambience.
