Xigera: Our ViewThis camp is all about an area of stunning beauty and nature at its most delicate. When the flood water comes down from Angola, the Kalahari changes from an arid desert into a lush lily covered wetland filled with life. Nowhere in the whole of the Okavango is this more beautiful that in the area surrounding Xigera. Look at the camp and you will see that it is very close to the famous Mombo….but the sheer volume of big game that Mombo is so famous for is cut off by water and cannot get to the Xigera concession; a genuinely stunning area. Xigera: The DetailXigera Camp is located just South of Moremi National Park on the border, yet quite central within the Okavango. The airstrip only about 15 minutes drive from the camp and the flight is about 20 to 40 minutes from Maun depending on the routing. The main lounge and dining areas are spacious and welcoming, focusing around a fire that looks over one of the permanent channels of the Delta. The camp itself is very well spaced out with each safari tent being joined by a maze of high wooden walkways, allowing game to stroll directly through and under camp. Each tent has a large thatched roof, en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers as well as a wooden decking veranda offering great views over the floodplains in front. So although there is big game there, it is not prolific but the birding and beauty of the area is outstanding. Xigera epitomises the beauty of the Okavango and Moremi. The main activity and uniqueness of Xigera is its mokoro trips on the channels of the Okavango. Time seems to move at a very relaxed pace at Xigera and being the only camp in the area you are guaranteed to spend the days in complete solitude, sharing the surroundings with Xigera guests alone in total privacy. Game drives during the day and at night offer something for the more active and the walking safaris with the guides here cannot be missed.

Jacana is a lovely small camp, set well off the beaten track and prides itself on its magical water based experiences. Being inaccessible by vehicle and only by boat you get a real sense of privacy and exclusivity.
