Zanzibar HoneymoonsThe very name of Zanzibar exudes the exotic, romantic aura of historic, fabled Indian Ocean islands. But the greatest joy of Zanzibar is that the island dream does still live on. With its ocean horizons traversed by ancient style dhow boats of long ago, the landscape here is one of coconut palms and clove trees, spice plantations and long, red sand roads. From the ancient capital to the coral sand coast, this island archipelago has charisma, history, and romance in the air.
Honeymoons in Zanzibar should tend to focus on its best, great beaches, or exclusive, idyllic hideaway islands such as Mnemba or Chumbe. These can be utter heaven, with deep drifts of white coral sand, coconut palms and elegant, charismatic accommodation. The style is generally of a 'barefoot luxury' style, with rustic-seeming beach bandas and swathes of kikois, although there are a couple of larger hotels if this suits you better.
With miles of palm-fringed shores, powder soft coral sands and gin-clear seas, Zanzibar lives up to the Indian Ocean island idyll. The atmosphere is compounded by a colourful Swahili culture where traditional wooden dhows sail beneath billowing lanteen sails on each far horizon. A great location for exploring, diving and snorkelling and with a wide range of accommodation options to suit all budgets
There are several small islands off the coast of Zanzibar, which offer an even more exclusive experience than the main island. Some of these islands can be stayed on and others are visited only as a day trip from Zanzibar. Zanzibar's most famous island is Mnemba which is simply mind-blowing
The capital of Zanzibar, Stone Town, is a fascinating mix of culture, an extraordinary place to explore. The ancient maze of narrow streets is a hotchpotch of historic old stone buildings shaded by elegantly carved balconies, loggias and verandas that cling precipitously overhead. Get emersed into the history of the slave trade or set off to one of the islands off the coast, Zanzibar has soemthing for everyone.
There is lots to see and do in Zanzibar, especially if you appreciate the joys of diving the coral reefs, snorkelling and tasting the delicacies that these reefs have to offer. There is a wealth of history and culture to absorb without having to work much at it; true swahili style is such that its laid back charisma infuses the entire island atmosphere.
Given the location just off the coast of mainland Tanzania it is a short and easy flight back to the mainland and thus most clients combine a stay on Zanzibar with a Tanzanian Safari to the Northern or Southern parks. Many honeymooners also use Zanzibar as the second beach element in a 'beach-safari-beach' combination that works so very well…
Zanzibar's dream hide-aways...Mnemba is located just off the North East Coast of Zanzibar and is a tiny dream island with the impressive accolade of being one of the most romantic and exclusive coral atoll islands in the world.
