HOUSE OF WAINE

Nairobi

House Of Waine: Our View

There are quite a few hotels that are located in the Karen district of Nairobi and this is certainly the best of them…both from a price point of view but also for the fact that it has a personal feel. Where quite a few of the hotels in and around Nairobi have a faceless rapport with their clientele, the House of Waine can easily be recommended for a couple of nights, used as a basing point to visit the nearby Giraffe Centre or Blixen Museum.

A great place to stay in Nairobi but it does not come cheap, we give 4 paws

House Of Waine: The Detail

House of Waine was originally built in the 1970’s as a private home. It was acquired by its present owners, a local family, and carefully refurbished over two and a half years resulting in the unique boutique property that exists today.
The local area has been favoured by some famous names in its time and is currently known as Karen after its famous namesake that chose to stay in its leafy suburbs, benefitting from the famous views of the Ngong Hills in the distance.
The hotel itself benefits from having gardens that stretch out to approximately 2.5 acres. This lends a realy feeling of seclusion to the place and therefore it is possible to forget that you are just a stone’s throw from the centre of Nairobi.
Each of the 11 rooms has been carefully designed with a different scheme in mind and so each has its own air and views out onto the gardens below.

Nairobi
We have been going out to East Africa for the last 12 years and have, either routing through to the safari lodges or on to the beaches, spent many a night trying out all of the hotels in Nairobi. The Palacina is the best of them! Stunning little hotel with a great restaurant and rooms….at this price it is certainly the pick of the bunch.
Nairobi
This itself contains 5 rooms and has the feel of an English country house, but instead of peacocks, it is rangy giraffe that mow the lawn. If giraffes are your thing and you would like to share breakfast with one then this is the ideal spot!
Nairobi
Each of the rooms has been beautifully constructed and looked after over the years. As with the other hotels in the area, this is a great place to relax for a couple of nights while exploring the sights around Nairobi. Great rooms, it does however lack from having no pool.
