KINONDO KWETU
Indian Ocean Mainland
Kinondo Kwetu: Our ViewLocated on the quiet beach at Galu, Kinondo Kwetu is ideally located on the southern coastline of Kenya. The concept behind the lodge is one of tradition meets seclusion, and it is also one of the most versatile of the beach lodges on this coastline with family rooms and suites offered. A stunning little lodge that offers something a bit different with the spa, horse riding and nearby ruins in a relaxed and beautiful location. A larger option than Msambweni House but it still offers a great beach, we rate it 4 palms Kinondo Kwetu: Fast Facts$510 per person per night (high season)
Kinondo Kwetu: The DetailHome to Ida and Filip Andersson, a Swedish family related to the famed Baron Blixen, Kinondo Kwetu is often described as a ‘home away from home’ - a paradise for those wanting a more personal experience on the Kenyan coast. Located on a tranquil private beach south of Diani, distanced from residential neighbours by rocky cliffs and endless beach, Kinondo Kwetu is classified as a ‘Kaya’ area (protected by the National Museum) due to its surrounding holy forests and sacred land. With various forms of accommodation, all surrounded by green shady gardens and just a few steps from the white sandy beach, Kinondo Kwetu can cater for up to 38 people and is also able to facilitate exclusive use of selected parts. In addition to relaxing in the sun and swimming in the Indian Ocean, Kinondo Kwetu offers an impressive selection of exciting activities – ranging from watersports such as Kite Surfing, deep sea fishing and Scuba Diving, to land activities such as Game Drives, Horse Riding and Yoga weeks and raw wilderness. This hotel is a very good choice for those with a family or couples who like to be active while on holiday. Being relatively small compared to the goliaths around Mombasa, this hotel has really cornered the resort style hotel market and is also a must visit spot for the big game fishermen between August and April. All in all, it may not be quite suited to the quieter tastes of honeymooners, but the food and the surroundings certainly make it stand out.

The beach at Diani, whilst busy these days, is still possibly the best along the coast and runs for miles. The House is a short walk to the famous bar and restaurant combination of the Forty Thieves and Ali Baba’s, and would suit a family or couple.

Set far away from the madding crowd, the lodge is a great place to get away from it all. Each of the rooms has been thought out and designed with its particular location in mind. This gives each room a true feeling of individuality and comfort. With superb service and a policy of food when you want it, there is no need to rush or stress at all.
