ONE AND ONLY ST GERAN

Mauritius, East Coast

One And Only St Geran: Our View

The One and Only St Geran is yet another of Mauritius's most famous hotels.  Often refered to as the Grand Dame of Mauritius this hotel is reasuringly expensive and delivers time and time again.

We rate this hotel as only 3 Palms. Despite all the hype we think the hotel is overpriced and the rooms are looking tired compared to some of the newer hotels on the island. Great service though.

One And Only St Geran: The Detail

Mauritian influences reign supreme throughout. The resort's relaxed and discrete luxury is complemented by service that is attentive, yet unobtrusive. Here, terraced and balconied rooms all face out privately to the Indian Ocean. Under the calm sway of thousands of coconut palms, 60 acres of beautifully lanscaped grounds take in tropical gardens, pools and beaches.

Diving, snorkelling and water skiing are all catered for alongside a Gary Player 9 hole golf course. The St Geran also boasts an exceptional array of restaurants including the Spoon des Isles, created by the legendary Michelin starred chef Alain Ducasse.

Another fairly new hotel, the Taj has a great feel, and is unique  in that each of the rooms are suites with their own plunge pools.  The footprint of the hotel is enormous and very private, though this can make the hotel seem slightly souless
