THE RESIDENCE

Mauritius, East Coast

The Residence: Our View

A good hotel on a lovely beach with a wonderful old colonial feel. However, there are drawbacks; there is only one main pool, the rooms are slightly small and the spa is subterranean.

3 palms as the rooms do not warrant more - lovely beach though

The Residence: The Detail

This is a good, smart, mid-range choice which achieves a sense of style and finesse without an imposing sense of grandeur. Situated in Mauritius, the nostalgic style looks to elegant plantation houses, combining fine teak furniture and flowing fabrics for a simple, clean and tropical end.

Rooms overlook well tended tropical gardens or the central pool, and are elegantly furnished with light woods and fine cloth. This is a good choice for couples or families, with a popular kids club set back in shady gardens, allowing parents a chance to relax elsewhere.
