THE TELFAIR
Mauritius, South coast
The Telfair: Our ViewA very very stylish hotel in a lovely old colonial style. The pool is huge and the rooms and common parts are great. A step up from the next door Heritage, though too French for our liking. The Telfair is a lovely hotel but the beach can get a bit crowed so we give it 3 palms. The Telfair: Fast Facts$330 per person per night (high season)
The Telfair: The DetailLe Telfair is smart, sophisticated and also great for kids over two years, as well as a fabulous choice for golf and spa enthusiasts; golfing on the par 72 course adjoining the resort is good all year round, although hotter from December to April, cooler from May to November. It is a 205 acre Championship Course with wide undulating fairways cutting through the sugar cane fields, against a backdrop of volcanic mountains and breathtaking views of the ocean. Golfing lessons are offered to beginners. The Six Senses Spa is surrounded by fabulously well-tended tropical gardens, with ponds & water features to provide appropriately atmospheric zen-like calm. The wide range of treatments offered blend both ancient and modern techniques, ensuring a truly revitalising experience. Activities include a huge range of watersports, including diving, sailing and even kite surfing with lessons available for all. Glass-bottom boat trips and snorkelling make the most of the glorious reef, and kayaks, lasers, catermarans, windsurfs are all available for your enjoyment. Deep sea fishing is also a popular option from here. Guests may explore the stunning natural surroundings on 4x4 driving trips or opt for two seater quads and mountain biking excursions. and if all of this is not enough for exercise of mind and body then enjoy use of the fully equipped gym, or opt for lapping the large central pool or enjoying the more sedentary pursuits of petanque and billiards! The Kids Club, the oddly named ‘Ti’ Marmite’, is well recommended for children over 2 years as a properly organized and attractive focus for children; a good range of daily activities and excursions are planned to maintain enthusiasm to return, making it much easier for adults to relax and pursue their own interests! Le Telfair also provides wealth of choice for watersports, a fully-equipped gym and potential to explore the massive nature park that surround the extensive grounds.
