Mozambique has a great climate for most of the year. However, in general light rain can start in December and can continue all the way through to the beginning of April with the heaviest rainfall happening in February and March.
Southern Mozambique (Bazaruto Archipelago) is hot and sunny for the majority of the year. However, the rainy season runs from December through until March. This area over the last five years has experienced serious storms at the beginning of December. So we would advise against travel at this time.
Northern Mozambique (Quirimbas Archipelago) is similar to East Africa in terms of its climate. Being closer to the equator the area is hotter throughout the year in comparison to the south of the country and the rains come later, with the heaviest months being February and March.
