Ongava Tented Lodge: Our View

Ongava Tented Camp is a charming small tented camp in a private reserve owned by Wilderness Safaris just outside Etosha. There are only eight rooms here, all of which look over a small watering hole that attracts game throughout the day and night. The camp is stylish, very well run and is beautifully unpretentious. The location enables guests to make use of the private reserve it is located in but also to game drive into Etosha. Overall a great little camp and our first choice for good value accommodation in Etosha.

We give Ongava tented a 4 paw rating due to the fact that it is certainly better than Ongava Game Lodge but as charming as it is, it does not quite meet the 5 paw standard of Little Ongava. Definitely a fantastic option for good value accommodation, with buckets of charm, a great little lodge.

Ongava Tented Lodge: The Detail

For the ultimate ‘vintage’ safari experience under canvas, Ongava Tented Camp is small, intimate and authentic. Ongava Tented Camp is situated along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the 30,000-hectare, privately owned Ongava Game Reserve. The small, tented camp is built in a different sector of the reserve to Ongava Lodge.

Accommodation comprises of 8 large comfortable walk-in tents, each with en-suite facilities, including flush toilet and a hot shower. One of these is a double-sized family tent. All meals are enjoyed in the thatched dining area that overlooks an active waterhole. There is also a small swimming pool.

Activities include game drives into the Okaukuejo area of Etosha where Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Gemsbok, Springbok, and Hartebeest can be seen at many of the waterholes in the park. In addition, night drives and walks with an armed guide are offered on the private reserve. Ongava has resident White Rhino and Black Rhino, allowing guests staying at Ongava the opportunity to see both species.
