Des Roches is a wonderful private island, a great simple lodge with diving and water sports.  Des Roches and Denis are very similarly priced and similar islands.  The joy of these lodges is that within a 10 minute cycle ride you can find completely deserted beaches

4 palms, although nowhere near as luxurious as North it is a fraction of the cost

Des Roches: The Detail

Des Roches Island is part of the Amirantes Group of island, a remote coral atoll. Spared by the flow of time, the pearl of the Amirantes archipelago stands as a real jewel to host an exceptional stay devoted to fine living, well being, leisure and sport.
The 20 junior suites blend harmoniously into their tropical surroundings.

Facilities in the villas include a private terrace with a sea view, king-size beds with mosquito net, air-conditioner and ceiling fan, minibar, bathroom with outdoor shower and bathtub, personal Safe, telephone, hair dryer, satellite T.V. and tea and coffee-making facilities.

There are three dining options. Restaurant Le Veloutie, producing a Creole style menu, has a stunning view over the pool and the sea, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Depending on the evening, guests will enjoy a variety of tables d'hôte, cooking shows or seafood festival. The cuisine varies between Creole, French and cosmopolitan types.

The Beach Restaurant boasts kiosks with thatch roofs, that you can enjoy a “feet in the sand” meal for breakfast buffet, lunch buffet or for intimate candlelit diner or a lobster evening.

Bar l’Amirante overlooks the swimming pool and the sea in acoconut tree environment, the bar provides the perfect end to the day as you sip cocktails while watching the stunning sunset.

Coconut Spa combines traditional Asian massage techniques with full body treatments and reflexology. A paradise filled with exotic aromas, essential oils, spice and floral fragrances, designed to enhance and optimise total “mind – body experience”.
Activities avaliable include windsurfing, pedal boating, kayaking, canoeing and snorkelling, flood lit tennis courts, table tennis, French bowls and bicycles. Additional activities available at a fee include scuba diving, big game fishing and boat excursions to the neighbouring Amirantes Isles (Poivre Island and Arros Island).

The surroundings can be explored by bicycle or on foot. The coconut groove, the island village and the northern lighthouse all are waiting to be discovered as are the many secret tracks that lead to secluded beaches.
