Baraza: Our ViewBaraza is one of the newer hotels on Zanzibar, located on the South East of the island next to its sister holels, Palms and Breezes. With 30 Villas this hotel may sound large, but the layout and design makes your stay very relaxing and comfortable with the Persian architecture, number of different eating areas and bars and in our opinion the best spa on the island! Baraza: The DetailBaraza is a Luxury Resort on the South West coast of Zanzibar which is just off the coast from Tanzania, only a 20 minute flight from Dar es Salaam. Baraza has 30 villas; 14 one bed villas, 15 two bed villas and a presidential Suite. The 1 bed villas are split into 2 rows at the front with Ocean Front and Sea view, you then have the 2 bed villas for the next 3 rows back away from the beach. We would recommend staying in the Ocean front villas if possible so you are literally on the beach, with great views out to sea. Each room is designed with influences from Zanzibar’s history - a fusion of Swahili and Arabic touches, private plunge pools, very spacious, fully air conditioned rooms and a fresh feel. Baraza has focused on attention to detail at all levels. Baraza has some of the best facilities on the island and despite being a 30 villa hotel you can expect the standard and service of a smaller boutique hotel. We feel this hotel can meet the requirements of honeymooners as well as families, with spacious rooms, huge bathrooms and one of the best waters sports centres on the island. The villas are GIGANTIC and beautifully furnished – with our own plunge pool and reserved beds on the beach. The beach service was excellent and the restaurant lovely. The pool area was great and selection of water sports excellent. I really couldn’t fault it. They gave us some vouchers to enjoy some of the different facilities including the spa and water sports which was a lovely touch. Definitely the most luxurious small lodge on Zanzibar. The lodge has the best rooms on the Island for those of us who want all the creature comforts and also has seriously great food and service.

When Kilindi started up it was seen as the new number one the island. But after a rather lengthy and painful teething process it hasn’t really delivered what the price tag should produce.

Matemwe Bungalows is great small lodge with a relaxed atmosphere, airy rooms and great views out to Mnemba Island. A great place to relax being near a great diving spot and enjoy lying back on your hammock looking out onto the Indian Ocean. |
