Beho Beho: Our ViewBeho Beho is one of our favourite lodges, and not just for the awesome luxury! It combines all the elements that make a safari experience memorable with sweeping panoramic views into the game rich valley beneath the lodge, exceptional food and some of the best guiding in Tanzania. Made up of 9 permanent stone bandas beautifully furnished, this is an ideal lodge to relax in luxury without compromising your safari experience. Tucked away in a quiet area of the game reserve all on its own and is renowned for its excellent walking Safari. Quite simply one of the best lodges in Africa. Superlative guiding, stunning accommodation and superb walking areas make Beho Beho one of the top lodges in Tanzania. It is rare that we give a lodge 5 paws, but this lodge has it right in all the right places. Unquestionably worthy of 5 paws. Potentially worthy of a 6 paw grade! Beho Beho: Fast Facts$995 per person per night (high season)
Beho Beho: The DetailLocated in the Northern sector of Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve, Beho Beho sits up in the Beho Beho hills approximately one hours drive from Lake Tagalala and the reserves famous springs. Frederick Courtney Selous died nearby with guests able to visit his grave and the battlefields of the first world war.The camp has its own private airstrip with transfers taking less than 5 minutes to the camp itself. Beho Beho is a 45 minute flight from Dar es Salaam on Tanzania’s mainland coast. Beho Beho has nine stone and thatch rooms along with the new private house which sits above the main lodge and can accommodate a small group of four or five. The main camp looks over a small watering hole and has a swimming pool as well as a number of different places for dining. The private house has its own private swimming pool and is the only accommodation in the lodge which guarantees private safari. The rooms are of an incredible standard and come complete with four poster beds and telescopes as well as en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and outdoor showers. Two of the main lodge rooms have baths. Each room has an open front with a lounge area to take in the impressive views of the Selous Game reserve and the valley floor below. The main area has sweeping views of the valley floor and good views of the water hole in front of camp. Evening dining often takes place here with guests then settling into the bar and comfy sofas scattered around the main area. The camp has a full size snooker table. Beho Beho offers standard daytime game drives as well as walking safari, boating and fly camping. Beho Beho: Client ReviewsBeho Beho - We stayed at some lovely Lodges, but this was the favorite. The rooms were outstanding, the food was a culinary treat, and the staff will remain friends for years. If Africa wasn't 26 hours away we would visit Beho Beho twice a year. Marty Goldsmith 2011 We absolutely loved this place, a family home come base camp in a Jurassic feeling Selous game reserve. This was a real step in luxury and service, all the staff were very friendly and professional with a real team feeling. There is a good feeling of remoteness with no manicured roads and specific tracks to follow. The walking safari's were a great experience. The game a little less common than in the Ruaha but mainly down to the dense landscape not because it wasn't there. Some real treats to a different style of safari with a trip to the lakes to see a variety of different wildlife. It has to be said the stay was enhanced by the great people we met whilst staying in Beho Beho in a very social gathering, not to be said that it can't be private though it can be as social as you like. C&P Monksfield 2011 I have to say that Beho Beho was a truly unforgettable experience and we just hope that we can get back there one day! Sasha and Tammy were exceptional hosts and the overall attention to detail was outstanding. Luke Hacking 2011 Beho Beho was great. Food, lodge, environment, service was awesome. Great guides. The game was pretty good, not awesome but still good and a wonderful experience. Art Durdag 2011 Beho Beho was simply overwhelming, it was absolutely stunning and what a setting, we were out every chance we could off on rides and walks that we were so stunned by the wild life, we both went with totally open minds not really knowing just what to expect and WOW what an experience. The camp was exquisite, the staff and guides could not have been nicer, they were all so knowledgeable and the stay was just crammed with surprises, ones we will keep to ourselves from others that would plan their stay there. We really like Beho Beho, and not just for the luxury! It combines all the elements that make the safari experience memorable, with beautiful views, great game and fantastic guides. In our view, it is easily the best lodge in the park and one of the top 3 in Africa! |
