We don't like big hotels. We much prefer small, intimate lodges offering an authentic safari experience. That said, if big hotels are your thing, the Four Seasons is a very luxurious and well appointed hotel right in the heart of the Serengeti. The best of its kind.
Four Seasons Safari Lodge- The Details
The Four Seasons sits hit on a small hill overlooking the rolling grass plains of the Serengeti. Its central location, just north of Seronera, guarantees excellent game viewing year-round but also means many other vehicles. It has a permanent water hole out in front of the hotel, allowing for game viewing from every room and even the swimming pool. The hotel is as you would expect of a Four Season property – luxurious, well appointed and with high standards of service.
Even the lowest standard of room is fairly luxurious. All have terraces with great views while the Presidential Villa has its own water hole. The Horizon rooms are the best standard option with fantastic views and the Terrace Suites offer private plunge pools overlooking the Serengeti Plains. Die to the size of the hotel, the further rooms require access by golf buggy.
The hotel’s facilities include three restaurants, a bar and wine cellar, library, gym, conference room, art gallery and gift shop. There is a relaxed restaurant for light lunches and snacks, buffets at Kulas Restaurant and African feasts at Bomas Grill. The main activity here is game drives in the Serengeti which are payable extra if you choose to use the Four Seasons or you can ‘bring in’ a private vehicle on a private basis from Arusha. The lodge is in close proximity to a balloon launch site for sunrise hot air balloon safaris. Guests are also invited to use the lodge’s innovative Discovery Centre, where they learn about conservation etc.
