Ikuka Safari Camp

Fantastic lodge, couldn't fault it! The main owner Giles was there so we got to know him a bit. Nothing was too much trouble for Mark and his team, they have the experience just right from the coffee in your room before you go out for the early morning drives, to the G&Ts in the sunset only metres from elephants/buffalo.

Ikuka was a lovely camp.  Again, the staff were very good and the meals excellent.  The accommodation was over the top, and it was nice to have the large space of the Banda.  And the main dining area was very relaxing.  Mark was a great host.  
The reason for the rating of 4 is due to 1) location and 2) quality of guides.
With regard to location, it takes about 20-30 minutes to reach the prime game viewing area.  (We have previously stayed at Mwagusi, which is not the same level of luxury, but ideally located.)  As to quality of guides, our guide was very keen to locate game but in comparison to Alex Walker Lamai, not quite as skilled.  Our guide had been with Ikuka for ~ 2-1/2 months.  Granted, at Alex Walker Lamai, we had a guide and spotter.  But even taking that into consideration, on balance we feel the guiding at Ikuka was not quite at the same level.  This is not a criticism, just a comparative comment.

Simply fantastic and one of the best camps I've ever stayed in. The food was amazing, the rooms spectacular and the game viewing very much exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend. 

Best place we stayed for the entire trip. Excellent food, incredible staff, beautiful view, and the game drives were informative as well as fun/entertaining. I have nothing negative to say about this lodge. I told Mark that he should put out a Cookbook for the dining!

The view from Ikuka was definitely remarkable and the rooms uniquely open and great, a fun contrast to the much more modern Kuria Hills. While service was great at all of our lodges, Ikuka probably had the best service, which may be partially personal preference as it was the only place we didn't have a designated waiter/butler, the whole team was just very available and helpful including Tonya (supporting Mark in managing the camp) who ensured everything on the ground ran smoothly

Great room, great views, great and very friendly staff, great food!!!! Was all amazing. We did one day a cultural trip to the village and visited the school there. The trip (going and returning) took us the morning and afterwards we still did some Game view. the experience, mainly for somebody that wants to have a little bit of sense of true life, is highly recommended. Mark, Chloe and Tanya have done a great job. We also spend a lot of time at the bar interacting with the staff (actually we were the first ones to arrive for a pre dinner drink and the last ones to leave after post dinner drink :) ). This was a great opportunity for us to interact with people and get to learn more about the country, challenges, their views and also share opinions via very good talks

Beautiful tents (if you can call them that) set high on the escarpment. We saw a huge variety of wildlife here, not on the scale of Serengheti but much more personal. Sitting under a tree with a leopard above us having our sundowner was a highlight especially as we were the only ones there.  We loved the communal table in the evenings and the food was a really high standard. Our guide Habibu was wonderful, a quiet gentleman who was so respectful of the surroundings. It was a perfect combination of 2 camps.
