IMPALA CAMP
Selous
Impala Camp: Our ViewThe camp is well regarded as offering excellent value for money and a great level of service and guiding for the price. Throughout the past few years, we have sent an increasing number of clients to the camp - all returning with superb reports! If you cannot stretch the budget to one of the more expensive lodges (which for the most part are substantially more expensive!) then this is definitely a good choice and is known as the best place in the Selous for accommodating young children. Impala is a good camp and one that is well deserving of a 4 paw rating. Impala’s only issue is the quality of nearby Selous Safari Camp, which as one of the only 5 paw camps in this park becomes our number one choice at this price level. Impala Camp: The DetailImpala Camp is located in Siwandu in the Selous Game Reserve in the South of Tanzania, only a 45 minute flight from Dar es Salaam. The Lodge is located immediately on the Rufuji River which gives you good access to boating safari. The main area of the lodge is raised on a wooden platform giving you a view onto the river bank and surrounding area which is often visited by Elephant. Meals are taken on this raised platform or on the grass bank of the river. The 8 tented rooms are again raised on platforms with spacious balconies looking onto the river. The tents are spaced out among the Borassa palms and Tamarind trees. Well furnished with en-suite facilities, each tent is built on platforms (some taller than others!) and equipped with luxurious furniture, shower, WC, and adressing area. The large meandering Rufiji River, with its network of channels, connecting lakes and swamps, offers visitors the unique opportunity to go on safari by boat and experience the spectacular concentration of wildlife from an unusual perspective. Another activity that is hugely popular here is the highly regarded walking safari. The camp has skilled and knowledgeable guides who lead the game drives, boat trips, and walking excursions and fly camping. Impala Camp: Client ReviewsI think you asked for feedback and we can only really award 11/10 in all respects. Manze and Impala were both fabulous Peter and Christina Pearce 2009 The Selous Impala Camp was definitely the highlight of the trip. We adored everything about the camp - the staff and management were wonderful and we saw all the animals we wanted to including lions. Two nights is not enough and next year we will have at least four.......we are already thinking about our return! Lucy Miller Hagerty We really loved Impala as well - Pietro (our guide) was endlessly patient and went out of his way to keep the boys interested. Loved the fishing. This camp is exceptional value, located in an incredibly game rich area of the Selous where you can boat, walk and game drive all straight from the camp. This camp is not trying to be something it's not- an excellent authentic no frills safari experience, we really recommend it!
Selous
Selous Safari Camp is the best luxury tented camp in the Selous and up there with the best in Africa. The camp itself is of top quality and the service and guiding is as good as it gets...needless to say it is in an outstanding game area.
Ruaha
Another of the superb Selous Safari Company properties, Jongomero is a beautifully designed and maintained camp. Like its sister in the Selous, since its overhaul, it really does stand out as a luxury safari camp with a quality finishing all round. The area that it is located in is consistently very good for lion and large herds of buffalo.
