LAKE MANYARA TREE LODGE

Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge: Our View

Of all the &Beyond lodges, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the best kept secret. This is partly due to the fact that anything less than a 2 night stay here is far too short.  The park is also not as well known as it should be; this is one of the best places to see a huge array of birds, both migratory and indigenous, vast numbers of elephant as well as some of the more interesting antelope of Africa, such as klipspringers.  In our view the lodge is actually one of the top 2 or 3 in Tanzania for the levels of service, the wilderness experience (as it is all on its own in the lower regions of the park there are never any other vehicles) and all round luxury.  This is really a special lodge, definitely worth paying a visit to if the budget can stretch!

Definitely a 5 paw lodge. It is the only lodge of this calibre in Lake Manyara National Park and its remoteness plays huge role as well.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge: The Detail

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is located deep inside Lake Manyara National Park in Northern Tanzania. The lodge sits in a thick forest at the southern edge of Lake Manyara, just over one hours drive from the park entrance. The lodge is accessed via Lake Manyara airstrip which is a further ten minutes from the park gate.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge consists of ten stilted tree-house suites and a large open dining and lounge area. Each room comes with its own en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower and a private ‘game viewing’ deck overlooking the forest. However It is worth noting that the bush is so thick here, you see little game from the camp itself! The bedrooms comer with their own four poster beds complete with overhead fans and  mosquito nets draped around the bed. They are truly beautiful rooms.

The main area of Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is designed in the style of a forest boma with a great outdoor dining area. An interactive kitchen is one of the main attractions of the dining area allowing guests to observe the preparation of their meals and get involved if they choose. Up into the main area itself there is a small library and a lounge area for relaxing during the day or after meals.

Lake Manyara offers standard daytime game drives as well as walking safaris on the lake shore. Night safaris are possible at an extra cost.
