MIGRATION CAMP

Serengeti, North

Migration Camp: Our View

Set away from the large populations of tourists that flock to Lobo and the Seronera, the camp really benefits from a great position. The tents themselves are as spacious and luxurious as you would expect from a camp of its calibre with comfortable armchairs and a great little pool and sundeck to relax on when not out on safari.

This lovely camp gets 3 paws and the only thing stopping it from getting a higher rating is its uncertain interception of the migration.

Migration Camp: The Detail

This luxury camp is hidden amongst the rocky outcrops or kopjes in Northern Serengeti, exuding decadence reminiscent of Old Africa. Just a short drive from Lobo Airstrip, this camp is quite often included as part of a luxury flying circuit in Northern Tanzania.

The reception is charmingly incorporated into the main lounge area, with comfortable leather couches and tastefully decorated to blend in with the surroundings, facing the swimming pool and the tents below.

Twenty lavish and spacious tents on wooden decks with either king or twin beds, comfortable leather armchairs, coffee and writing tables. The tents are en-suite with showers and double vanities, surrounded by a verandah with rocking chairs.

The lodge itself is excellently placed in the corridor of the Serengeti that joins the central, Seronera region with the northern plains of Kenya and the Lamai Wedge in Tanzania. For this reason, the camp has very good local populations of cats such as leopard and lion on its doorstep.

Migration Camp: Client Reviews

Migration Camp was our favourite - a bit off the beaten tourist trap so not so many vehicles around.  Game was a little harder to find as landscape is not so open but it was a good contrast with the central Serengeti area and we did see thousands of grazing migration animals in the north and along the Western Corridor.

Selous
Selous Safari Camp is the best luxury tented camp in the Selous and up there with the best in Africa. The camp itself is of top quality and the service and guiding is as good as it gets...needless to say it is in an outstanding game area.

In the north of Ruaha National Park,  Mwagusi is a rare gem on the safari circuit, a privately owned lodge in possibly the best game area of Ruaha. If you are looking for a serious big game safari, look no further.
