Nomad run some of Tanzania’s best camps, always managing to combine excellent guiding and environmental awareness with the comfort and style you would expect from a high end safari lodge. Kuro is a classic safari focused Nomad camp with incredible guides. Just 6 tasteful and subtle rooms in the beautiful wilderness that is Tarangire.
Nomad Kuro - The Details
Tarangire is a very special park. From mid-November to mid-June very little happens but as the dry season rolls on the park comes alive with the annual migration of impressive quantities of game, including 20,000 elephant. Because the park is so seasonal there are very few permanent camps here so Nomad Kuro is an exciting new prospect.
Tarangire, we feel, is all about the beautiful isolation awarded by choosing a lodge inside the park boundary and Nomad Kuro becomes just the third camp, after Oliver’s and Swala, to offer this. It is well located in the centre of the park, too far for the day trippers from Arusha and not far from the river and swamps that form the hub of animal activity.
The camp is designed, like all Nomad camps, to leave as small an environmental footprint as possible. The 6 tents are decorated in classic neutral safari colours while the main area has a thatched grass roof. Each tent is ensuite with bucket shower and eco-flush toilet.
Nomad have built their name on the high quality of their often local guides and, in a park where walking safaris are arguably better than anywhere else in Tanzania, this is an important factor. The other speciality available in Tarangire is the night drive. It shows you a completely different Africa to the one you see by day and should not be missed.
