OYSTER BAY
Dar es Salaam
Oyster Bay: Our ViewIf you really want to spoil yourself after a long haul journey or want to be pampered after an active safari, then Oyster Bay is the one. Sister hotel to the famous Beho Beho in the Selous, the quality of the rooms, food and service are top notch. But we must add that at almost a thousand dollars for a room - it is pretty outrageously priced. Only for those where money is no object! There is no better accommodation of this type in Dar Es Salaam. A small five star hotel right on the coast can only get 5 paws. Oyster Bay: Fast Facts$425 per person per night (high season)
Oyster Bay: The DetailLike staying with good friends – everything has been planned around your stay. It does not matter what time you arrive and how long you stay, there will always be on hand and offering just the right thing. King sized or twin beds face the ocean view, comfortable lounge furniture, writing desks, plasma screen televisions and wifi computer technology; everything is in place to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Air-conditioning of course is sometimes necessary in this equatorial climate, but each suite is also fitted with ceiling fans and French doors that open onto an ocean facing balcony where there is a good breeze. The en-suite bathrooms, with a free standing bath and ‘walk through showers’ and enclosed toilet cubicle coming off the main bedroom area creating a feeling of modern day spaciousness. Oyster Bay: Client ReviewsDear Julian, Dear Ed, Now back in Berlin, we just wanted to give feedback for our unforgettable Christmas safari to Tanzania. Everything was flawless and highly enjoyable. All transfers worked perfectly (not to be taken for granted), and all the guides were very knowledgeable, but also very empathetic and focused on what we were looking for. Truly a superb performance. We especially liked the Tree Lodge, Oyster Bay and Shooting Star. Special thanks to Tom McGail, if you are still in touch with him, for pointing us to those early on. Lets keep in touch! Dar es Salaamdoes not offer much and therefore a hotel with all mod cons, in close proximity to the town centre (and golf course) is a welcome break from the town’s somewhat hectic atmosphere.
Selous
We really like Beho Beho, and not just for the luxury! It combines all the elements that make the safari experience memorable, with beautiful views, great game and fantastic guides. In our view, it is easily the best lodge in the park and one of the top 3 in Africa! Tanzania Mainland Coast
Quiet, away from it, all but with fabulous rooms, great food and friendly unpretentious service. This is the best value beach accommodation and one of the most beautiful small lodges to be found anywhere in Tanzania.
