ROYAL PALM
Dar es Salaam
Royal Palm: Our ViewDar es Salaam does not offer much and therefore a hotel with all mod cons, in close proximity to the town centre (and golf course) is a welcome break from the town’s somewhat hectic atmosphere. The restaurant, Tradewinds, is one of the best in the city and a great place for a supper when staying in the city. The Royal Palm is an excellent place for a night in Dar and great value. It gets 3 paws for this and its central location is brilliant. Royal Palm: Fast Facts$200 per person per night (high season)
Royal Palm: The DetailSituated in Dar es Salaam, this is one of Dar’s best hotels, the top of the range in the town centre. Its grand central elevation makes it a good landmark, and for years it has upheld its enviable position as the only upmarket option in Dar (although this is now somewhat challenged) Its pristine atmosphere is immaculately preserved by the chill of its air-conditioning throughout and with all the mod cons of a westernised hotel, including hairdressers, travel agents and a BA service desk, this is a good option for a couple of days in Dar. The patisserie is worth visiting for self-indulgent treats, and the garden provides a pleasant and relaxing haven for a ludicrously expensive pot of tea or a beer. There is also an attractive swimming pool set aside in private gardens overlooking Dar’s best golf course. You may also likeDar es Salaam

Stone Town, Zanzibar
Located in Zanzibars Stone Town, it is a pretty house that was at one time a tea house belonging to a wealthy Zanzibarian merchant. Situated directly opposite the Serena Inn, personal service and an oasis of tranquility in the otherwise busy surrounds of Stone Town, this is a fantastic choice.
