SERENGETI SOPA

Serengeti Sopa: Our ViewThe Serengeti Sopa is a large hotel. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing and the hotel certainly has its following with both the larger group tours and families. However, for the smaller and more intimate trip, while it has a good location set away from the busiest areas of this central area, it can still feel too busy. Our advice would be to go for the Serena Serengeti Hotel before Sopa. The company is more reliable and most of all the the lodge is more modern and comfortable. If you are looking for a larger hotel set in an area with year round reliable game (and the Migration from around June until the end of July) then the Serena is also wiser option. The Sopa gets a 1 paw rating. it just does not meet the standards that a lodge of its calibre should. It is in serious need of a facelift and the service could do with improving. Serengeti Sopa: Fast Facts$700 per person per night (high season)
Serengeti Sopa: The DetailNestled in the acacia woodland on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the plains of the south-western Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous parks in the world, and host to the largest and most spectacular annual migration of the wildebeest. The rooms are decorated in an intriguing, charming Swahili style, with an impressively vast main reception hall that will, it has been rumoured, have a glass fronted atrium with views out over the large pool to the plains beyond. However, to date it doesn’t. The general atmosphere is one of colourful comfort over homogenised style, with good views from the restaurant and the service is good with the restaurant providing an exceptionally varied range of local foods.
