Busanga Bush Camp: Our ViewBusanga Bush Camp is one of our favorite camps in the Kafue. Originally a privately run camp, Wilderness Safaris now run Busanga and have still left the lodge with its original charm. The location is superb, with good predator concentration and stunning views over the Busanga Plains. Not as luxurious as nearby Shumba or Kapinga, the camp caters for the safari enthusiast! Busanga is a lovely little camp. Recently upgraded we feared this camp would lose its authentic charm but the character remains with many clients regarding Busanga as the best camp on the Plains. Busanga Bush Camp: The DetailBusanga is one of the Wilderness Safaris most authentic safari camps anywhere. Located in the heart of the Busanga Plains in Kafue and with only three rooms (four for group bookings is possible) the camp, discreetly hidden away from view, is located on an island overlooking the Busanga Plains. The area an expanse of seasonal floodplains that play host to some of the most untouched and unspoilt game viewing in Africa. There are superb views over the floodplains in front of the camp. Each room is tented with thatch walls and large doors that open out onto the floodplains themselves. The en-suite bathrooms all offer shower under the stars and although it’s not as luxurious as neighbouring Kapinga or Shumba. Busanga offers that bush feel that hardened safari enthusiasts crave for. The bar and lounge area are tucked away under huge trees and give an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere. Although the rooms do have sitting out areas which offer great views there is more character and atmosphere in the lounge area where guests find they spend much of their ‘free’ time. Definitely one of Kafue’s best camps Wilderness Safaris Shumba Camp has a great setting and a real emphasis on the luxury experience. The area is visited by few guests so safaris here are very exclusive and the quality of guiding set very high.
Kafue
The quality of the camp certainly satisfies a more luxurious clientele than nearby Busanga Plains Camp. We do believe that Kapinga is not quite as polished a safari camp as the excellent nearby Shumba Camp but Kapinga’s selling point however is its size.
Lower Zambezi
What a setting and what a great little camp. Our last consultant here had thirty elephant in camp the day he was leaving and literally had to be picked up by vehicle from his room! Recently a vote in the office put Old Mondoro as one of our favourite adventurous camps in the whole of Africa.
