The area is visited by few guests so safaris here are very exclusive and the quality of guiding set very high. The Busanga Plains is famous for its predator concentrations and Shumba is set right in the best area….big game driving here is superb. Kapinga and Shumba both get 4 paws because they are the two most luxurious properties in the Busanga plains area of the Kafue. Busanga Bushcamp is the only lodge in this park we give 5 paws to. Shumba: The DetailShumba Camp is located in the centre of the Busanga Plains, Kafue’s dense predator area - wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion are common. The camp comprises six spacious luxury safari tents on raised platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding plains. The rooms are large, en-suite with both indoor and outdoor showers. The dining and bar area is elevated so as to take in this vista and each morning's sunrise; dinner takes place either here or in the camp boma. Many meals are prepared and cooked on the fire in front of the guests enhancing the safari experience. A maximum of 12 guests can be accommodated at any one time and great emphasis has been placed on the "guided" experience - being led by qualified, enthusiastic people with in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife. Guests have the option of game drives in and around the Plains and night drives provide the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the area. This camp is perfectly situated to take advantage of the plains game and predator concentrations of the Busanga Plains, being situated as it is within close proximity to permanent water and having easy access to a mix of seasonal and permanent floodplains. Shumba is named after a favourite species in the area - prides of lion sometimes up to 20 strong!

The quality of the camp certainly satisfies a more luxurious clientele than nearby Busanga Plains Camp. We do believe that Kapinga is not quite as polished a safari camp as the excellent nearby Shumba Camp but Kapinga’s selling point however is its size.
Kafue
Busanga Bush Camp is one of our favorite camps in the Kafue. Originally a privately run camp, Wilderness Safaris now run Busanga and have still left the lodge with its original charm.
Lower Zambezi
There are a few camps in Africa that have everything just right....Chiawa is without doubt one of these, regarded by us as one of the top lodges anywhere. The guiding is phenomenal, the location is perfect and this place is run by the family who are the main reason for the Lower Zambezi's success as a National Park.
