SINDABEZI
Livingstone and Victoria Falls
Sindabezi: Our ViewSindabezi is a 3 roomed private island lodge in the centre of the Zambezi River. Owned by Ben Parker, the owner of Tongabezi, this is an old favorite in the office and a great lodge for the client wanting something different. Having seen Sindabezi become somewhat run down over the last few years, the recent refurbishment has been highly welcomed - it has truly transformed the camp. Brilliant for groups wanting to be completely shut off from the rest of the world. Sindabezi gets 5 paws as it is a fantastic and unique little property at extremely good value. For somewhere on its own island like this and to be all inclusive, it is hard to beat. Sindabezi: Fast Facts$465 per person per night (high season)
Sindabezi: The DetailZambia’s Sindabezi island Lodge is unique being the only island camp on the Upper Zambezi River in the Victoria Falls area. Located 3 km downstream from Tongabezi Lodge (towards Victoria Falls), the lodge has magnificent views overlooking other islands and the nearby flood plain of the Zambezi National Park. It is a beautiful small private island that offers some of the most unique accommodations in the area. Sindabezi is a tiny private island offering the best wildlife experience in the entire Victoria Falls area. The birdlife is outstanding and game is often seen around the island with a number of hippos resident to the waters surrounding Sindabezi. The cottages are built from local timber, reed and thatch, with spectacular private views over the Zambezi. All chalets have cold running water, hot bucket showers, flush loos with views. The island is fully staffed and a qualified guide hosts guests and is available to take them on boat trips or canoeing. There is no electricity on the island - only lamps and candles which only adds to the romance of being in the middle of the river. The lodge also has a wealth of different activities on offer, all included in the price. Canoeing, island lunches, floating river meals, visits to the Mukuni Park, sunrise and sunset boating, visits to the local villages, guided bush walks, museum tours, fishing trips on the Zambezi and guided tours of Livingstone and Victoria Falls itself. It is worth noting however that getting to Livingstone and Victoria falls can prove rather tricky, involving a boat trip back up to Tongabezi (3km) followed by a 20 minute drive into town. Activities not included in the price include visits to Livingstone Island, Elephant rides, trips to Chobe National Park, white water rafting trips, helicopter rides, microlights, gorege swings, bungie jumping, jet boating, horse riding and a number of other activities available in and around Livingstone. Built years ago in a design that was totally unique across Africa, Tongabezi is an old favourite due to its longstanding fresh approach to lodge design. They then continued to give our clients unbelievable stays - we even had a phrase in the office which described clients best trips as ‘Tongabezi moments’!
Livingstone and Victoria Falls
Wilderness Safaris new property at the Falls is one of the best value properties in the whole area. Cheaper by over one hundred dollars a night than the nearby Wilderness Safaris owned River Club, we believe Toka Leya is an utter bargain.
Livingstone and Victoria Falls
The River Club is in our view the finest property at Victoria Falls. Quite an honour considering the quality of the competition! What really sets this place apart from all its competitors is not so much the quality of the rooms but the character and atmosphere in camp.
