TENA TENA
South Luangwa
Tena Tena: Our ViewHaving seen all the camps in the area, there is no immediate ‘wow’ factor to Tena Tena when you arrive in camp. However, there is something exceptional about this camp that lies beneath the surface. Tena Tena focuses on the experience more than the 'wow' factor of the actual lodge. The guiding is exceptional and passion for the Luangwa valley itself is infectious. True safari enthusiasts can really appreciate Tena Tena - the guiding here is some of the best you can get on the continent. We give Tena Tena 4 paws because it is the base camp for Debs, one of the best guides in the whole of the Luangwa. We are not great fans of the camp itself due to the lack of good views, but the guiding here is undeniably superb. Tena Tena: Fast Facts$605 per person per night (high season)
Tena Tena: The DetailTena Tena lies on a high bank on the edge of the Luangwa river in South Luangwa. The river splits leaving a main channel or island and then a smaller channel where Tena Tena sits offering views up and down the river with added bonus of game viewing from the camp onto the island itself. The tented rooms face away from the river leaving the communal areas and a stretch of river bank with the best views. The camp is very spacious creating privacy for each room and more than enough space for guests to relax in their own area of the camp, away from their rooms. The bar and lounge area are the main focus of the camp, set back slightly from the river bank to allow for sofas and chairs to be spread under the trees right on the edge of the bank. The rooms are classic safari tents underneath a thatched roof. All have lounging areas in front of each room and sides that open up to reveal the views. Outside bathrooms are all en suite and built to surround the trees on camp. You may also likeSouth Luangwa
Nsefu is certainly one of the most famous camps in the Luangwa and with exceptional guiding standards you simply cannot be let down. The setting is stunning - the views are absolutely beautiful (up there with the very best in the park) and the lodge has a great character that is very hard to beat.

What a truly exceptional camp! Tafika is one of the remaining owner run camps in Africa with John and Carol ever present. The result is a camp that genuinely cares for each and every one of its guests.
