Ruckomechi is a naturalists paradise. The camp is environmentally friendly wherever possible, without compromising on luxury, and is set on the banks of the majestic Zambeze river. Mana Pools National Park was established in 1963 and is one of Africa's best kept secrets. It lies along Zimbabwe's northern border on the banks of the Zambezi River, downstream of Lake Kariba. Mana Pools is famous for having some of the best walking and canoeing in Africa.

Ruckometchi: The Detail

Once a vast flood plain for the mighty Zambezi, the park gets its name from pans that hold water during the dry winter season.
It is one of Zimbabwes best kept secrets and one of the least developed National Parks in Southern Africa, allowing some of the most intimate and private Safari opportunities.

Mana Pools is ranked as one of Africas outstanding wildlife reserves and during the winter months it has the highest concentration of game in the entire continent.

This unique and special national park is spectacular, with the Zambian escarpment acting as a backdrop. Aside from the excellent walking safaris in Mana, the Zambezi River adds another dimension and is ideal for canoe safaris.

A canoe trip down on the Mana Canoe Trail is one of the best ways to experience the African bush. The canoe safaris last anywhere from three to nine days and cover different stretched of the river from Kariba Dam downstream for up to 160 miles, past Mana Pools to Kanyemba near the Moçambique border.

The best time to visit the park for wildlife viewing is at the end of the dry season (August-October)
