Victoria Falls

Located on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia the Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya meaning the 'smoke that thunders' is the worlds largest curtain of falling water and one of Africa's most famous sites.  Victoria Falls town itself is on the Zimbabwean side of the Falls and since the demise of Zimbabwe as one of Africa's top tourist destinations tourist numbers have dropped significantly.

The country is now believed to be on the turn, but neighbouring Livingstone town has the most famous lodges and is our destination of choice for clients wanting to visit the waterfall.

There are some of the most beautiful river settings for lodges on the Zambian side of the river, but we believe that &Beyond's Matetsi River Lodge is the only good lodge on the Zimbabwean side.  The Livingstone lodges, especially the likes of Tongabezi, Sindabezi, The River Club and the Royal Livingstone are much better.

You can read about all of these lodges by typing in each lodge into the search facility at the top right of this page or by using the country guide at the top left.

Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls Hotel sits in an excellent spot with magnificent views. Although it feels as though it has lost its charm and now a faded copy of the once grand, colonial establishment. Great for convenience to the falls and activities; Still one of the best places to stay in Vic Falls town.
Livingstone and Victoria Falls
Overall the Royal Livingstone is a remarkably nice but large hotel with great food, great pool and good service. The location is the closest location to the Falls and with Zebra literally walking around the swimming pool there is something really special about this hotel.
Livingstone and Victoria Falls
Built years ago in a design that was totally unique across Africa, Tongabezi is an old favourite due to its longstanding fresh approach to lodge design. They then continued to give our clients unbelievable stays - we even had a phrase in the office which described clients best trips as ‘Tongabezi moments’!
