You can expect the same style of accommodation across the board in Mauritius; well ran big all-inclusive hotels with excellent food, fantastic kids clubs, tennis courts and golf clubs. This style is very popular with families as there is so much to do for all ages. Some beaches are fabulous, and others not so good. Mauritius tends to pack a lot in; so don’t expect a huge private suite, but rather a room in a complex. Although these can get very luxurious, it is not a “private suite” experience, but definitely feels more akin to staying in a big hotel, which is what you would expect from a Mauritius holiday.
One of our favourite hotels is The Oberi, which feels more like a series of separate private suites, rather than individual rooms in a big complex - a bit of an exception in Mauritius. For this reason, it is probably our number 1! Also, it is not too overpriced at $250 per person per night.

Other office favourites are St Geran which is an iconic and luxurious hotel priced at $420 per person per night. It is stunning and well worth staying at if you have a bigger budget. Belle Mare Plage has a truly beautiful beach, and is excellent value for money at $164 per person per night.

Getting to Mauritius is very difficult from mainland Africa, so if you want to visit Mauritius you are best to do this on a one-off trip from the main airline hubs like London, and not on the end of safari.
