Namiri is an amazing camp – full stop. I take my safari pretty seriously and really like to spend as much time as possible out of camp. The team at Namiri, and particuly my guide Erasto made sure they had me up and on the road before sunup every day with maximum time out in the field. Namiri really is the place of big cats, with countless lion sightings – not just sleeping, but hunting, feeding, playing etc. Cheetahs really are a big part of Namiri too and I saw no less than 10 in my 3 nights – again, all very active and interacting. Leopards chose to remain out of sight during my stay but that the charm of the bush. The open nature of the plains and the kopjes leads to some really interesting landscapes, and the whole place is great for photography.
I’d go back there in a hearbeat!

Namiri was a great camp in a very remote area of the Serengeti, we saw fantastic lion and cheetah sightings we even had a kill right infront of camp literally two minutes after we arrived!! Absolutely loved it

Namiri plains was a very different experience - but then we knew it would be, hence the choice. The new camp is spectacular; it has pretty well every amenity in an awesome, very remote location. It might not suit safari purists but you can’t fail to be impressed by what the rebuild has achieved. Safari luxury! Food was good; maybe a little pretentious in presentation & dinner not as good as other meals but not a real issue, maybe just teething problems. The camp managers & all staff went out of their way to make our stay a super experience. Special mention for our guide, Jeoffrey, who was with us all the time - his knowledge & experience was among the best we have experienced in 20+ year of safaris.
The conservation efforts in Namari Plains have really paid off - the area is alive with cheetah & lion; we saw aardwolf; caracal, serval, mating ostrich! etc & hardly another vehicle.
The journey from Seronera was long (heavy rain had made the road challenging) but we had expected this. Our travel companions from the US hadn’t, and with only a 2 night stay at camp were a bit disgruntled. In our view a stay of at least 3 nights, but preferably 4, is essential to make the most of the camp and the location (nothing is close by!).
