RUFIJI RIVER CAMP
Selous
Rufiji River Camp: Our ViewRufiji River Lodge is owned and operated by the prestigious Fox Family, owners of the Ruaha River Lodge, Katavi Wildlife camp and many others. The camp itself is in a lovely location with scenic views of the Rufiji River, but it needs money spent on it. They were going to refurbish it, but have never got round to it, and until it begins to tidy up around the edges, it doesn’t remain as good value as some of it neighbours. We have given the Rufiji River Camp 3 paws because as far as value for money goes, in our view, you are better off spending a little extra going to camps such as Manze or Impala where you get a lot more for it. Rufiji River Camp: Fast Facts$410 per person per night (high season)
Rufiji River Camp: The DetailThe tented camp, situated in the middle of the reserve, and slightly east of the hot game spot, it is environmentally friendly and each tent is equipped with a private bathroom and a veranda facing the river. In the dry months there is a constant flow of animals coming down to drink at the river. A structure in the central part of the camp hosts the restaurant, bar and library, all with a view of the river and the sunset. A covered swimming pool is situated in the camp, between the reception and mess area. Being right on the river the camp boasts a lovely boating experience pretty much straight from the verandah of your tent. The walks are a must if you feel brave enough, but never underestimate the game drives with their experienced guides when you can cover much more ground and get to the better game areas…one thing about this camp is the best areas are a drive away. Selous
The Selous Impala Camp is well regarded as offering excellent value for money and a great overall level of service and guiding. If you cannot stretch the budget to one of the more expensive lodges then this is definitely a good compromise in the Selous.
Selous
This camp is exceptional value, located in an incredibly game rich area of the Selous where you can boat, walk and game drive all straight from the camp. This camp is not trying to be something it's not- an excellent authentic no frills safari experience, we really recommend it!
