OLIVER'S
Tarangire
Oliver's: Our ViewOlivers Camp is one of the finest camps in Tarangire. Having moved location recently the camp has now settled in what must, undoubtedly, be one of the best spots in the park. The guiding is and always has been excellent and it's located at a beautiful site down in the south, away from the much busier central areas. Originally owned by Paul Oliver, Olivers is one of only two camps that are actually in the park who are able to walk directly from camp. A stay in Oliver’s is amongst one of the best experiences in the North, provided Tarangire is in season from July until to November. *Rating* Olivers is in our view the best camp in Tarangire, a statement backed up by the fact that it is the only camp that can both walk and night drive inside the park. A very special northern Tanzania camp - 5 paws Oliver's: Fast Facts$643 per person per night (high season)
Oliver's: The DetailLocated in the southern central section of Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park, Oliver’s Camp has the parks prime location. The camp is thirty minutes from Kuro airstrip and approximately 45 minutes flight from Kilimanjaro International airport. Situated in an unspoiled wilderness zone, the camp overlooks the Minyonyo pools flood plain and is known for its quieter location which gives guests the opportunity of exploring Tarangire’s remote and untouched Southern section. Oliver’s Camp, originally set up by Paul Oliver but now owned by the luxury safari group Asilia Safaris, was an adventurous styled safari camp for many years. This adventurous approach to safari gave the camp a great reputation amongst safari enthusiasts which Asilia have managed to retain to this day. Their recent refurbishment and location change has seen the camp retain its safari character. Oliver’s Camp has just eight luxury tents with en suite bathroom, open air shower and solid classic wooden furniture that enhance the African bush experience. The exclusive feel is added to with a library, seamless service and high standard of food. The staff have years of experience and a stay in this camp is like joining a warm family who want to share a deeper knowledge of the park and its inhabitants. Walking safaris are a specialty here and Asilia have added night drives to their activity agenda with night vision scopes to enhance the experience. Olivers now offers guests the opportunity to game drive at day and at night as well as being the only camp in the park to operate walking safari as well as night safari. Oliver's: Client ReviewsThoroughly enjoyed our stay. Warm and friendly staff who anticipate your needs without hovering too much. Three hour walking safari (included) and night game drive were real treats (cats really come out at night and are more active) Very comfortable, roomy tents with good views, large terrace (birds and Dik Dik regularly scooted across). Enjoyed the outdoor shower heated by solar panels. One suggestion: possibly place a screen around the toilette (at corner of dressing area) for a little extra privacy. Loved having coffee and biscuits brought as a wake-up call each morning at all camps. Breakfast buffet and desserts were great (loved homemade cookies). Had two meals where meat was grissly, but barbecue on the last night was delicious. Good wines. Alex, our guide was wonderful, experienced, knowledgeable and a great sense of humor and did a terrific walking tour and night drive. Good practice of having executives/managers from office cover vacations of camp managers to stay current on how camps operate. Barbara, our covering manager was excellent. Safe in tent (though staff seemed very honest) and complementary laundry service was a convenience. N Hanley, 2011 Olivers Camp - Starting from the first lodge: the Tree Lodge in Tarangire, overnight. Beautiful room, traditional dinner under the stars with a very good BBQ style as hospitable as it could be. Excellent food from breakfast to dinner. Accomodation is also comfortable and stylish. The lady manager very friendly and so the crew. Sadiq, our tour guide was knowledgable and courteous all through the journey to Ngorongoro and Mynyara lake. Fabio Carli 2010 Oliver's Camp stood out though - the people the camp everything was unbelievable we would love to go back, on the walking safari we came across a lion with a kill approx 50 ft away it was a heart stopping moment but fantastic. We left the camp with a tear in our eyes we made some good friends there, it will always be a very special place for us. Selous Safari Camp is the best luxury tented camp in the Selous and up there with the best in Africa. The camp itself is of top quality and the service and guiding is as good as it gets...needless to say it is in an outstanding game area.
