Zamani Kempinski: Our View

The Zamani Kempinski is one of the larger hotels on the island with some 110 rooms, the rooms are clean and comfortable but lack any character and you truly feel like you could be anywhere in the world! One of the major issues with this international hotel that is dose not have its own beach and if you wish to relax on the beach, which is what Zanzibar is all about, you will have to be driven by a golf cart! Ever since the Kempinski was built it has been negotiationg to buy the neighbouring beach at the beach lodge Shooting Star, but thankfully they are have held tight and will not sell!
To experience the true Zanzibar we would recommend looking at the smaller traditional boutique hotels on the island with better access to a beach!

We have given the Kempinski 1 Palm due to its huge size, lack of beach and looking a bit 'tired' recently

Zamani Kempinski: The Detail

The Kempinski is a five star beach hotel located on the east coast of Zanzibar, with over 110 rooms and a handful of suites and private villas it is certainly one of the largest hotels on the island. You will find a good standard of facilities here as you would at any Kempinski chain around the world. Although the hotel does not has its own beach in front of the hotel, you can take a short drive in a golf cart to their beach which is also partnered with a very good water sports centre where you can dive, snorkel and arrange sailing lessons.

One of our favourite hotels on Zanzibar and one of the best along the East African coast. The beach here is the best on Zanzibar and unlike much of the east coast, is free of hawkers and general hustlers. Nungwi village just down the coast is a great place to go out and have a few drinks or a bite of lunch.
