Birders will be keen not to miss this unusual habitat, as it offers the chance to glimpse one of Madagascar’s rarest endemics, Appert’s greenbul, confined entirely to this forest. Other bird highlights include giant coua, crested coua, Madagascar crested ibis and Madagascar cuckoo-roller.
Another rare treat here is the stunning Standing's day gecko, ornately patterned with fine flecks of blue and green; it's one of the largest living species of day gecko and is limited to this tiny part of Madagascar. Spot them here on the trunks of some of the country's finest baobabs. Nocturnal forays might produce sightings of some very special lemurs: fat-tailed dwarf lemur, pale fork-marked lemur and Coquerel's giant mouse lemur.
