All the way back in 1998, when Africa Odyssey was still just beginning (then actually known as Tanzania Odyssey), one of our consultants was approached and asked to write the Cadogan Guide to Tanzania, aimed at intrepid and trailblaizing travellers. Writing this guide required intimate knowledge of Tanzania, from the most remote villages and parks to the finest camps and lodges. The second edition was published in 2002 and is still hailed as one of the most useful travel books that you can take on an African adventure.

Obviously over the last 20 years Tanzania Odyssey became Africa Odyssey and as we expanded so did our presence in the press. We are very proud of the reputation that we have built over the years and some of the feats that have been achieved by us as a company and by our individual consultants.

We were fairly instrumental in the development of the Tanzania Tourist Board website which we built and edited alongside the government in the days of dial up internet. We are also a very active member of the Africa Trade and Tourism Association (ATTA) and Marc, our founder and managing director has long been a judge for 'The Good Safari Guide'. Over the years we have also been very proud to write, contribute to or facilitate a number of national and international articles, radio features, honeymoon guides, travel magazines, documentaries and news articles. Although our core business focuses around tailor making holidays and honeymoons for private clients, we have made the travel arrangements and advised on logistics for numerous charitable projects and businesses across Eastern and Southern Africa. Our client base is very diverse and we have certainly had to adapt over the years to stay ahead of the game but we have managed to make arrangements for an administrative aid body, clients attempting to follow the paths of former explorers such as Livingstone, and clients seeking dinosaur bones, meteors and tours of the historic battlefield.

We were very happy recently to win two 2014 British Travel Awards for Best Holiday Company to Sun-Saharan Africa and for best Wildlife Safari and Nature Holiday Company as well as again in 2015 and 2016
