Potato Bush

Potato Bush is a young camp and usually they need a few years to teethe. But given the experience of the management and team behind the running of the camp, it has really taken off well. It may be pricey but it ticks a fair amount of boxes and all in all, depending on what you're after, this is a nice camp and most would say that it's worth the high price tag.

Potato Bush - The Details

This is one of the Lower Zambezi’s little gems. The camp is located right in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, on the banks of the Zambezi River. The camp is only a 30 minute flight from Lusaka and you can connect here from Livingstone and the South Luangwa National Park.

The camp has an older sister, Sausage Tree Camp, that has set the perfect example for Potato Bush which has inherited all the qualities of Sausage Tree and it’s only half the size. With only four tents, the camp remains, small, private and personal. The tents are exceptionally large with a lovely open plan. With freestanding baths, private plunge pools and massive double beds, all the rooms look out over the Zambezi and there’ not much more you can ask for.

The main area of the lodge also follows a tented design and soft, breezy character. The dining area, lounge and bar are all under the same roof with the obvious proximity of a fire place and camp chairs facing the river. The food and service here superb, and although the camps is small, it can still deliver a top quality in house product.

Given the central location of Potato Bush, it allows for some exquisite safari opportunities. The Lower Zambezi is famous for its big game and the guiding here does it all the justice it needs. Being located on the river it offers you the chance to go out by boat and canoe with the added option of fishing.
