Somalisa Camp and Somalisa Acacia are both owned by African Bush Camps. Located on an acacia island in their own private concession in Hwange National Park, a private and intimate stay can be assured. In front of both camps is an elephant pool which regularly sees large herds of elephants come to drink. This is just one of the highlights in one of safari's best destinations.
Somalisa Camp and Somalisa Acacia - The Details
Somalisa Camp has seven spacious luxurious tents, all with outstanding views across to Kennedy Vlei. Elephants regularly walk past the rooms to reach the pool in front of the main mess tent. The tents are beautifully furnished and open, letting the gentle breeze through to cool the tents. African Bush Camps have done an incredible job of blending an old style feel with modern touches.
The open sided mess tent overlooks the elephant pool, as it is now known due to the quantity of elephants that visit on a daily basis to drink. Service, food and guiding at Somalisa is some of the best you will find in Hwange.
The adjacent Somalisa Acacia Camp is more geared towards young families. The camp is comprised of only four tents, two of which are family style with interconnecting bedrooms. The camp has a fantastic kids club with activities designed for the younger safari enthusiast.
Both camps offer an incredible all-round safari experience, but game viewing is best during the dry season (July-September), especially when the vegetation is at its thinnest and water is scarce.
