Angama Mara aptly named as it translates to 'suspended in mid-air' is one of the newest editions to the luxury camps and lodges of the world famous Masai Mara. This amazing owner–run safari lodge is located on the edge of a dramatic escarpment boasting what could easily be the one of the best views in the whole of Africa; the seemingly endless grass plains of the Masai Mara.

Angama Mara - The Details

The camp is split in two over two Kopjes with vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see, a third Kopje – just a short walk from the lodge has been left untouched; it was the setting of some of the most iconic scenes in the movie Out of Africa and now makes for a fantastic walk and sundowner spot for guests.

Each of the guest tents are incredibly comfortable and luxurious, elegant and classical. The rooms are vast and boast a floor to ceiling glass front to maximise the views in the comfort of your own privacy.

The food at this beautiful camp does not disappoint. Simple and delicious, the chefs focus on amazing fresh local produce for which Kenya is famous; grass fed beef, wonderful salads and seafood from the coast.

Whilst staying at Angama Mara there are many adventures to be had, all tailored to how you feel and what you would like to experience. The Masai Mara boasts the largest density of wildlife seen anywhere on earth. Game drive into this fascinating reserve with some of the best guides in Africa. Or relax on your veranda and while away the hours looking down the 300m escarpment with binoculars watching elephant and Giraffe and thousands of antelope working their way through the plains below.

Walking is a wonderful experience with great guides, discovering Africa on foot is a truly unique experience, especially when you can walk up to the most iconic destination from the film Out of Africa for a romantic picnic!

Angama Mara Safari Camp - The Details

Situated deep into the Mara triangle, Angama Mara Safari Camp is an exclusive use tented camp that can accommodate up to eight guests in four luxury en-suite tents.

Located in the heart of the wildlife action, this exclusive camp is perfect for those wishing for that true East African tented experience. This is extreme glamping! Wake up to a wildebeest grazing outside your room and roaring of lions at night. There is nothing that epitomises an African safari more so than a luxury tented experience.

The main area comprises of a bar, dining and lounge area taking which takes you back to simpler whilst still providing every amenity one could wish for. There is no need for a television when you have real life National Geographic on your doorstep! Although the safari camp does not exude the opulence and lavishness of the main camp, it it the perfect way to experience the true Mara.
