During 2017 Mombo and Little Mombo will be getting rebuilt giving guests the opportunity for guests to step back to the original grass roots of Mombo. Located in the heart of the Okavango Delta’s Moremi Game Reserve Mombo Trails is a stunning camp situated in one of the continent's finest game viewing regions.

Mombo Trails - The Details

Located in the heart of the Okavango Delta’s Moremi Game Reserve on the northern tip of Chiefs Island, Mombo Trails is approximately one hour flight from the International airport at Maun. The camp is accessed by its own private bush airstrip which is roughly 30 minutes game drive from camp.
Mombo Trails – Botswana’s 'Place of Plenty' - looks over a floodplain that literally teems with game.  The main communal area will have stunning views over a wide stretch of the plain. The main area is a large canvas structure with a combined lounge, bar, dining area and ground level fire area.
The whole of the camp is on the ground level with the tents being slightly raised off the ground. The rooms will be elegentley furnished with large double beds, seating area and ensuite bathroom. Electric 4x4 golf carts will be available at Mombo Trails to take guests back to their rooms.
The Mombo reserve boasts massive concentrations of plains game and an incredible concentration of the predators.  Wild dog and cheetah are rarely seen but the dominant female from a wild dog pack has remained and adopted up to 15 black-backed jackals and created a pack, with which it hunts and lives. It even regurgitates its food for the young, in true wild dog style.
According to Mombo Trails guides you are almost guaranteed a lion sighting every drive and if not, then certainly every two drives.  The guiding is top notch and Wilderness channel the best and most sought after guides to Mombo Trails.  The staff and in-house service is well up there with some of the best hospitality in Africa - they excel in the food and beverage department.
Mombo Trails only offers game drives during the daytime.  Night drives are not permitted due to the camp's location inside the Moremi Game Reserve. Water levels are too low for boating activities

We stayed at Mombo Trails which is the temporary luxury camp available while they rebuild Mombo Camp. My wife and I simply loved the camp and the whole Botswana safari experience. Frankly, I do not know how the new camp will greatly improve on the temporary camp. First and foremost, the density and diversity of animals in the Mombo concession is fantastic. Simply unbeatable game viewing. Our guide, Tebla, was the best. He is a walking talking naturalist with a wonderful and kind heart. Tebla, entertained and educated us for six hours a day. We learned so very much about the Bush and the animals and gained a new respect and love for them. We saw almost everything except for Rhinos. If you demand the best game sightseeing, go to Mombo. The accommodations were just fine, the food was over the top, and the hospitality from management and the large welcoming staff was wonderful. I highly recommend Mombo Camp. You will not be disappointed with any aspect of this experience.
