Emakoko | Nairobi, Kenya

Emakoko is a fantastic alternative to the big, souless hotels that Nairobi has in adundance. This intimate, classic safari lodge is situated in Nairobi National Park and you can essentially be on safari within 15 minutes of leaving the airport with the incredible Nairobi skyline as a backdrop.

Emakoko: The Details

Emakoko is situated on the Southern Border of the Nairobi National Park, approximately a 45 minute drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Most of this road is through the park, so it is one of the few places where the notorious Nairobi traffic can be avoided. It also means that safari starts the minute that you leave the airport!

Nairobi National Park is home to lions, leopard and one of the largest black rhino populations in Africa, as well as numerous other species. It is totally unique in that it is set within the limits of a city, and offers safari with the city as a backdrop - something that you cannot experience anywhere else in Africa.

Emakoko has just 10 rooms, all with beautiful views over the park and the city beyond, each in a classic safari lodge style. All rooms are en suite and luxuriously comfortable, and the food is excellent. Keeping the lodge to just 10 rooms means that Emakoko is able to maintain a feeling of real intimacy and authenticity which you usually only find deep in the bush, and is perfect for an overnight or a longer stay. You can even visit them just for the day if you have some time to kill in Nairobi!

Emakoko - Reviews

Our stay at Giraffe Manor really made our time in Nairobi; the children were thrilled, and in truth, so were we. We were made to feel so welcome, and the relaxed ‘house party’ feeling was great after all the nights we had spent in hotels. We thought the staff were wonderful, and the fun of feeding the giraffes dispelled all our misgivings about adding extra nights to our trip
