Jacks Camp - The Details
Located to the East of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in Northern Botswana, Jacks Camp is linked by a flight from a private airstrip approximately 40 minutes South of Maun. The camp itself is located close to Uncharted Africa’s other camp, San Camp and remains one of the most unique products in the country. Jacks Camp was the brain child of Ralph Bousfield, founder of Uncharted Africa. Jacks Camp remains the company's flagship property.
Jacks Camp has ten spacious en-suite tents with inside and outside bathrooms all designed in a 1940’s exploration style. Each tent has uninterrupted views out over the Pans offering beautiful accommodation and an oasis of civilization in what can be the harshest of stark environments.
The main area consists of an elegant mess tent and swimming pool as well as a number of artefacts and small library making Jacks Camp a designated ‘national museum of Botswana’. The camp is therefore a must for any intrepid traveller in search of a truly wonderful Africa Safari
The big game viewing at Jacks is limited – ultimately this is not a big game safari destination. However what Jacks lacks in game it more than makes up for in the range of other activities on offer. Nature drives as well as extensive walking (with San Bushmen trackers), night drives and quad biking are all possible from camp. The guides here are exceptional, aiming to give guests an understanding of the Makgadikgadi’s history as well as the area’s geology and archaeology.
