The house itself has a great feel to it with all of the rooms having an open and fresh feel to them. The stretch of beach that they are located on is far enough away from the infamous Diani that it is not impacted by the large numbers of lodges up there and so makes for a great and enjoyable beach stay. The food is also a huge selling point with fresh fish (surprisingly!) being a speciality. This is a great option….subject to availability. Msambweni Beach House: The DetailMsambweni House is in a quiet, unspoilt, unique setting on the beach surrounded by 28 acres of natural land. The house offers 700 feet of private beach along a tropical 4 mile white, sandy coastline. Family run and owned it is an exclusive house with three spacious and luxurious suites in the main house, one villa and one luxury tent. With the house being a converted family house, each of the 3 suite rooms have a light and airy feel to them, accentuated by the private verandah and high ceilings. The feel in the villas, with separate plunge pool, is again, one of both seclusion and space, allowing you to spread out and really enjoy this beautiful lodge. The main areas of the lodge have been well thought out and feature, as the definite centre-piece a stunning infinity pool that merges with the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Located on the quiet beach at Galu, Kinondo Kwetu is ideally located on the southern coastline of Kenya. The concept behind the lodge is one of tradition meets seclusion, and it is also one of the most versatile of the beach lodges on this coastline with family rooms and suites offered. A stunning little lodge that offers something a bit different with the spa, horse riding and nearby ruins in a relaxed and beautiful location.

This hotel is a very good choice for those with a family or couples who like to be active while on holiday. Being relatively small compared to the goliaths around Mombasa, this hotel has really cornered the resort style hotel market and is also a must visit spot for the big game fishermen between August and April. All in all, it may not be quite suited to the quieter tastes of honeymooners, but the food and the surroundings certainly make it stand out.

The beach at Diani, whilst busy these days, is still possibly the best along the coast and runs for miles. The House is a short walk to the famous bar and restaurant combination of the Forty Thieves and Ali Baba’s, and would suit a family or couple.
