Maia: Our ViewMaia was built just after the Banyan and offers a very similar experience to the Banyan Tree. Huge suite rooms with private pools, and a lovely location on Mahe. 5 paws, it is an ongoing debate in the office as to whether the Banyan or the more recent Maia are better hotels. Maia: The DetailWhether you are in a hillside or beach villa, there are glorious uninterrupted ocean views. Each villa is utterly private and designed in natural earthy tones. When the Banyan Tree first opened it was one of a kind, huge private suites complete with a private pool, terrace and gardens. In fact you rarely needed to leave your room. Set on a heavenly and private beach its only drawback is the price and the fact that in our summer months the main beach can be dangerous to swim off.
