Singita Boulders: The Detail

Singita Boulders is situated in the heart of the Sabi Sand Reserve, North Eastern South Africa. The reserve itself is over 18 000 hectares (45 000 acres) alongside the Kruger National Park. Access is by road or by air, with the Sabi Sands being 90 minutes flight from Johannesburg. The Sabi Sand Singita Reserve is home to Singita Boulders and Singita Ebony and has its own private airstrip, serviced by a number of scheduled carriers as well as private charters. It is also possible to self drive into both camps though the vast majority of clients fly into camp.

The Sabi Sands is an area known for prolific wildlife and exclusive game viewing. The absence of fencing means that animals migrate between the Kruger itself and the Sabi Sands. The region is one of the most prolific wildlife areas in the world and the exclusive Singita reserve is one of the largest of the Sabi Sand private reserves.

Singita Boulders is located on the Sand river that runs through the Singita Reserve. There are 12 super luxurious suites and a stunning communal area that looks over the sand river. The lodge also has a bar area and a traditional open boma as well as a gymnasium, health spa, library complete with computers and direct internet links as well as an incredibly well stocked wine cellar.

The 12 super luxurious suites complete with sumptuous bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, an expansive living area with double sided fire place, mini-bar and fridge, private wooden leisure decks with a private plunge pool as well as air conditioning and ceiling fans. The rooms have direct dial telephones. Quite simply, they are some of the most luxurious accommodations in Africa and Singita Boulders is one of the continents most famous properties.

The main activities at Singita Boulders are game drives at day and night (into the evening). The swimming pool and private plunge pools provide extra areas to exercise and there are guided bush walks around the lodge vicinity. Community village trips can be made to the nearby villages outside the Sabi sand Reserve and the lodge shop is remarkably well stocked with a range of African artefacts and curios.

Located close to Singita Boulders, Singita Ebony is a much more traditional camp than its super famous neighbour and is therefore not quite regarded as the same level of camp. The reality however is that Boulders is regarded as one of Africa’s finest camps so Ebony will always be in its shadow. Make no mistake, this is a seriously good safari camp with the same levels of service and hospitality as Boulders.

Located in the Kruger National Park itself, Singita’s Lebombo is the most contemporary of all the South African Singita lodges and one of the  most unique designs of any safari lodge. Located alongside Lebombo on the private Singita reserve in the Kruger National Park itself, Sweni is yet another top end Singita product that carries the usual standards to be expected of the Singita brand.
