Set on the Mabibi Peninsular of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Thonga Beach Lodge is a lovely and small lodge perfect for exploring this wild area. Thonga is the most luxurious place to stay along this rarely visited and quiet coastline.
The small and intimate Thonga Beach Lodge has twelve stylishly and cool eco sensitive thatched bush suites, they are either with an ocean view or a forest view with the deluxe rooms having private plunge pools. There are also two larger family units.
There are a number of great activities to do from Thonga Beach Lodge, including kayaking on the nearby Lake Sibaya, there are also guided forest walks, birding, snorkelling, scuba diving (there is an onsite qualified dive instructor), turtle tracking along with some great fishing as well.
The only downside about this beach is that the ocean is tidal and can often be quite rough depending on the time of year. However, the accommodation is stylish and well kept and with the luxury of the plunge pools, some may not mind about the ocean being not an absolute certainty.
