A good hotel on a lovely beach with a wonderful old colonial feel. However, there are drawbacks; there is only one main pool, the rooms are slightly small and the spa is subterranean.
The Residence - The Details
This is a good, smart, mid-range choice which achieves a sense of style and finesse without an imposing sense of grandeur. Situated in Mauritius, the nostalgic style looks to elegant plantation houses, combining fine teak furniture and flowing fabrics for a simple, clean and tropical end.
Rooms overlook well tended tropical gardens or the central pool, and are elegantly furnished with light woods and fine cloth. This is a good choice for couples or families, with a popular kids club set back in shady gardens, allowing parents a chance to relax and take a breather.
So here, The Residence certainly has its perks and it's draw backs but all in all will give you an extremelly comfortable stay in an absolutely beautiful part of the world. You can not really feel let down when you have the sunshine on your back and the twinkle of the ocean in your eyes - it acts as a great base to explore the island from and is probably better if you are not into lounging all day by the pool (as there is only one!).
