Bale Mountains, Ethiopia

The safari park of Ethiopia, the Bale Mountains National Park is home to a fantastic array of endemic species. The varied landscapes, altitude and habitats means the park is home to a particularly wide variety of wildlife; from the bush pig to lions, leopards and the Ethiopian wolf.
The variety in landscape also offers beautiful scenes of green, jagged mountain edges towering over blue and sparkling lakes; whether you are wildlife enthusiasts, scenery seekers or view visionaries; Bale Mountains has it all for lovers of the outdoors.

For bird lovers, day trips to the southern Great Rift Valley often involve sightings of the beautiful, vibrant and exceptionally rare Prince Ruspoli’s turaco.  For activity lovers enjoy fishing for rainbow and brown trout, trekking (many!) scenic routes or visiting a local coffee village. You can discover the highest peaks, stumble upon the lowest glacial lakes or get (hopefully not too) lost in the largely undiscovered Harenna Forest. If you love nature and fresh air in your lungs, then you will fall head over heels for Bale Mountains. Many people describe it as a place quite unlike anywhere else they have ever been; the beauty of Ethiopia is that if often feels like a place no one has ever been.
