The Ishasha Wilderness Camp is idyllically set on the lush Ntungwe River, this small and friendly camp has ten spacious canvas tented rooms all with a private veranda, perfect for sipping your late afternoon G&T while watching the animals down on the river.

Located in the Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha Wilderness Lodge gives you the best chance of spotting the famous tree-climbing lions as well as plenty of other game, big and small.

Although Uganda's safari is not as prolific as its neighbours Kenya and Tanzania, the variety of activities and its wildlife really does mean you can enjoy an all-round safari experience without having to leave the country.

Ishasha is a quaint tented camp made up of ten framed canvas luxury tents, each with its own en-suite and private patio to unwind and relax in between game viewing activities.

The thatched central lounge and dining area provides a cosy and relaxed space for guests, although meals are often served al-fresco beside the river. In the evening, the outdoor fireplace beside the river is the perfect place for guests to relax over sundowners and share their day's experiences.

Days can be spent exploring Queen Elizabeth on game drive in search of the tree-climbing lions or other resident big game like leopard, buffalo and elephants. However a must for anyone visiting this area is a boating safari along the Kazinga Channel. Splitting Queen Elizabeth in two, this thirty-seven kilometre channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you can marvel at the huge densities of hippo, come eye to eye with basking crocodiles and tick off plenty of different bird species including palm-nut vultures, woodland kingfishers and a plethora of waders.

For anyone looking to combine the gorillas of Bwindi and the chimpanzees of Kibale, Ishasha Camp makes the perfect stop-over for a night or two. Since the camp is unfenced, animals often roam through meaning game drives are not always necessary to spot game and you truly feel immersed in the African wilderness . On your departure to Kibale, a road trip through the Northern section of the National Park only adds to the adventure in this wonderful country.
